Redefining the Salon Experience

Wakey Icons Collide: Brows for Jane McDonald

Marcos got in touch asking if I was free to be in Sheffield for Jane McDonald. I said yes before I’d finished reading the message.

If you don’t know Marcos, he’s head of hair and makeup on Dancing On Ice. We’ve worked together for several years now, and a lot of my celebrity work comes through him. We’ve become proper friends along the way, which is the best bit.

Utilita Arena Sheffield

On the day I did a morning of clients, packed up my kit and headed to Sheffield Arena. Jane was one of the most welcoming, friendly clients I’ve had, and being from Wakefield, we clicked straight away. We grew up a few streets away from each other, and it turns out our first jobs were both at Balne Lane Working Men’s Club. Neither of us saw that coming.

Brow treatment kit laid out on a table, including HD Brows products

For the treatment, I did HD Brows to add definition, depth and texture. I finished with the HD Brows Pro Pencil for a bit more texture, then set everything with Saint & Serenity’s Heavenly Hold, my go-to brow gel. That pencil and gel combo is my favourite pairing.

I went home after, but I’d also been invited to the last night of the tour in Leeds, so George and I went along. The voice, the stage presence, the roar from the crowd. It was spectacular, and a very different view from a few days earlier, when I was a couple of feet from her with a brow pencil.

Thank you to Marcos for thinking of me, as always, and to Jane for having me.
